Double Bass

Orhan Mert KESER

He started his double bass studies with Refik HACIBEYOGLU at Hacettepe University State Conservatory in 2000. He later continued his studies with Assoc. Prof.Esra GUL at Uludag University State Conservatory in 2002. He had the opportunity to work in masterclasses with Prof Volkan ORHON and Aykut DURSEN within the scope of Anadolu Bass Club in 2003 and 2004. He passed the entrance exam of Anadolu University State Conservatory and began his undergraduate studies in Assoc. Prof. Esra GUL’s class in 2006. He won the National Youth Symphony Orchestra's auditions in 2007 and performed at concerts. In 2008, he attended in Esra GUL’s double bass course at Art Connect International Music Class and Festival held in Italy / Urbino and held  the Principle Double bass position for the festival’s orchestra and also performed as a soloist.  He attended in masterclasses held in Blankenburg /Germany, Brno/ The Czech Republic and Wroclaw/ Poland in 2009 and 2010 and worked with Prof. Catalin ROTARU, Prof. Miloslav JELINEK, Prof. Hiroshi IKEMATSU, François RABBATH, Joel QUARRINGTON, Boguslaw FURTOK, Wolfgang HARRER, Ekkehard BERINGER, Prof. Barry GREEN in the festivals. He appeared in the final concerts by winning recognition in the contests he joined. He also worked with Prof. Peter KUBINA in the Academy of Music of Hungary-Franz Liszt in Erasmus project of Anadolu University in 2009 and received a certificate of honor. During the same period, he performed at numerous concerts with Hungarian National Philharmonic in Hungary. He was awarded the 1st prize at the YAMAHA Stringed Instruments Competition held in Anadolu University State Conservatory in 2010 and graduated with distinction in the same year. He took part in Bass 2012 Copenhangen, organized within the scope of Bass Europe in 2012 and had the opportunity to work with Prof Duncan MCTIER, Prof. Michael KLINGHOFFER and Prof. Jeff BRADETICH in their master classes. While he continues his graduate study with Esra GÜL in the Anadolu University State Conservatory, he has been working as a contrabassist in the Eski?ehir Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra since 2011.
